IPL gets the green signal from the government

Shafi Sammi Mahdi:

The whole world is trembling because of coronavirus. However, India is one of the few countries where the invisible virus is most prevalent. Therefore, the BCCI had sought permission from the government to host the 13th edition of the IPL in the United Arab Emirates and not in its own country. After many speculations, this time the cricket board got that permission. The game will start on September 19. The final will be on November 10. The game will be played at three venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

Although some sports venues returned to the field due to the Corona epidemic, no spectators were allowed to enter. However, as a surprise of the IPL, even if there are no spectators in any match of the group stage, there may be spectators from the playoffs. And despite India’s political conflict with China, the Chinese mobile company remains the title sponsor of the IPL.

Eventually, the fear disappeared. The final day and policy of 2020 IPL have been published. The draft proposal was sent earlier. All that was left was the permission of the government. There is also a green signal. The 13th edition of the IPL, one of the most prestigious cricket leagues in the world, will start on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates, not in India.

After a lengthy meeting on the 13th edition of the IPL in a video conference, the Indian Cricket Board has revealed all the complications. The thirteenth edition of the IPL is going to be a full 53-day competition. Each franchise will be able to announce a squad of 24 members. The final will be on November 10. The broadcast of each match has been brought forward by 30 minutes. The day’s matches will start at 4 pm Bangladesh time. Night match from 8 p.m.

There will be ten doubleheaders in this IPL. That means two matches will be held in one day for ten days. Which is three days more than other events. There will be 10 matches of the tournament in a day. All other matches will be at night.

The question is whether there will be spectators in this popular league? All matches of the group stage will be held in the empty gallery. However, considering the situation, the spectators may be allowed to come to the field. However, the UAE government has already allowed 30 to 50 percent of visitors. During the tournament, if any cricketer of the squad is attacked by Covid-19, the teams can take another cricketer in the team instead. The three main venues in the UAE will be Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah with 60 matches of the tournament.

China’s political conflict with India over the existence or non-existence of the Chinese company. There are surprises with it. Despite the crisis, Chinese company VIVO is still the title sponsor of the IPL. Star Sports has bought the IPL TV broadcasting rights again. In the meantime, the franchisees have been asked to start the visa process.
