T20 World Cup gone, IPL on

Shafi Sammi Mahdi:

IPL is coming by postponing T20 World Cup?

This is not unusual. The ICC has finally postponed the T20 World Cup this year after rumors of a ‘no, no’. On the other hand, there is a lot of talk from India about rolling in the IPL. In the end, it seems that this is surviving. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants to hold the IPL in Dubai in September. All that is needed is a government clearance.

The schedule of these two pre-arranged tournaments has been reversed due to the coronavirus epidemic. IPL chairman Brijesh Patel told AFP that the Indian government would need permission to host the IPL in Dubai in September. The BCCI has got the opportunity to host the richest cricket league in the world, though it was late this year as the T20 World Cup was taken to 2021.

“It will be held in Dubai, but first of all we will get permission from the Indian government to host it there,” said IPL chairman Brijesh Patel. Exactly when the tournament will start will be decided by the IPL board at its meeting next week. But Brijesh Patel hinted, ‘We are thinking of September-October. It can be rolled out till November. ‘ The T20 World Cup was scheduled to start in Australia on October 16.

There are rumors in the media that the IPL may start from September 28. It will continue till November 8. However, the IPL chairman did not confirm whether the match would be played without spectators. The final decision will be taken jointly by the Indian and Dubai authorities.

IPL is the main source of income for BCCI. After the IPL was postponed due to the Corona epidemic, it was learned that if this year’s edition was not played on the field, it would have lost 500 million. The six-week tournament has contributed more than 11 billion to the cricket-mad Indian economy. Earlier, the scheduled start date of IPL was March 29.
