Eid-ul-Azha will be held on August 1. The announcement was made at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee in the eastern courtyard of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Tuesday. This meeting was held to determine the date of the holy Eid-ul-Azha in the year 1441 AH and to review the news of the sighting of the moon in the holy month of Zilhajj and to take a decision in this regard.
The meeting will be chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Nurul Islam. The Islamic Foundation has requested to inform the telephone numbers: 9559493, 9555947, 9556407 and 9558337 and fax numbers: 9563397 and 9555951 or the Deputy Commissioner or Upazila Nirbahi Officer of the concerned district if the moon of the holy month of Zilhaj is seen anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh.
It was said in the BSS meeting that even though the moon could not be seen in the sky anywhere in the country, the counting of Jilhaj month will start from July 22 (Thursday) as the 30 days of Zilkad month are completed on Wednesday. In this case, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on July 31 (10 Zilhaj) in Bangladesh. If the moon is not seen, Wednesday will be the 30th day of the month. In that case, counting of Zilhaj month will start from Thursday (July 23), Eid will be celebrated in the country on August 1. According to the rules of Islam, Eid-ul-Azha or Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated on the 10th of the month of Zilhaj.
